Guidelines for Individual Membership Application
When you wish to become a member of JSSE, please read these procedures before you fill out the membership application form.
Benefits for Members of JSSE
- "The journal of Japan Society for Safety Engineering" is distributed. (Published six times a year)
- "The journal of Japan Society for Safety Engineering" is available for PDF download and viewing on the J-STAGE platform (Members-only access for 3 years after publication; papers and technical reports are immediately available).
- General members and student members are exempt from the submission fee for original papers or technical notes submitted to "The journal of Japan Society for Safety Engineering". Submitted manuscripts are published within four months of acceptance.
- General members and student members may present research findings at the Annual Conference of JSSE.
- Discounted participation fees for events hosted by JSSE and special member pricing for our publications are available.
- Access to safety-related information consultation and mutual exchange of safety-related information among members.
- Corporate members may commission safety-related research and studies.
Membership Procedures
Please apply for membership by filling out the individual member registration form below. If you do not receive a reply within a week, please contact the secretariat.
Once your application is approved, you are requested to pay the prescribed annual membership fee immediately. The online version of the bimonthly Journal of the Japan Society of Safety Engineers (JSSE), the official journal of the JSSE, is available to members only. After three years of publication, it will be made available to non-members. Original papers and technical notes will also be made available to non-members immediately after publication.

About membership
Memberships are automatically renewed every April on a fiscal year basis. The renewal notice will be sent out with the membership fee invoice for the next fiscal year, which will be sent out around February each year.
Individual members may change their membership name by sending an e-mail request.
Cancellation of membership is also possible. (Deadline for application during the fiscal year: end of February each year)

Note: These prices are for fiscal year 2025 and will change from fiscal year 2026 onwards.
General
JPY 9,600 (JPY 11,000 from fiscal year 2026)
Undergraduate or graduate students (Proof of enrollment status and expected graduation year is required)
JPY 4,800 (JPY 5,000 from fiscal year 2026)
Payment of membership fees
Payment methods vary depending on your location.
For those within Japan, we will issue an invoice, and you may pay the membership fee via bank transfer.
For those outside Japan, you may pay the membership fee via PayPal.
The secretariat will provide you with payment details in the detailed mail from the secretariat in section 3. of the "Registration Process".
Additional Information
Notification of changes can be made at any time. However, if there is a change in the address, name of the person in charge, etc. to which the journal is to be sent, please submit the application by the end of the odd-numbered month. Please note that late applications may result in the magazine being sent to the same address as before the change.
The membership fee invoice will be sent as a PDF file as an email attachment. If you need a paper invoice or have any other special request regarding invoicing, please contact the secretariat via the form or e-mail.
